We’re pretty good at pushing ourselves to the limit, aren’t we?
Most women I’m talking to at the moment are either right at their limit, or have gone beyond. They are exhausted, stressed, resentful, lacking inspiration and struggling to embrace the joy of the season.

A full year of being “on” and it’s no wonder.
As we approach the Christmas break, I want to remind you of just how important it is to rest — it’s one of the best investments you can make in your business, and yourself.
Your best ideas won’t come to you when you’re hunched over your laptop feeling frazzled. Giving yourself time to recharge and reconnect with what truly matters means you will return with fresh perspectives and renewed energy for the new year.
Here are a few tips to ensure your break is a restorative one:
- Communicate: If you haven’t done so already, let your clients and team know you’ll be taking time off. Set boundaries (and auto-replies!) so that everyone is super clear about what you can and can’t be interrupted for.
- Go Tech-Free: With a never-ending To Do List, team members taking holidays and what feels like constant client demands, switching off completely can feel like a pipedream. Unless you have a seasonal business, there will definitely be a few days where you can be completely off-line. It will help if you delete emails, Slack and socials from your phone to avoid the temptation – they can all be easily reinstalled after your break.
- Do What Fills Your Cup: Whether it’s spending time with family, beach time, visiting somewhere new or blobbing on the lounge with a new book, focus on activities that bring you joy.
- Reflect, Don’t Plan: Use your downtime to reflect on your wins, challenges and learnings from 2024. Try to resist the urge to go into full on planning mode though. The best ideas and plans will come from giving yourself space for your mind to wander.
