How to Stay on Track with Your Business Goals: A Practical Business Health Check for Women in Business

by | 7 Apr 2025 | Business Tips

You Don’t Need New Goals—You Need a Reset

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed as we move into the final quarter of the financial year. Maybe your energy’s shifted, or your to-do list has overtaken your vision. The good news? You probably don’t need more goals. You just need support to stay on track with the ones you already set.

This is where a quarterly business health check can help you. It’s something I guide my 1:1 clients and Accountability Circle members through every quarter to help them reconnect with their goals, reflect on what’s working, and make a practical plan for what’s next.

If you’re ready to reset your business goals, here’s a five-step process to help you:

Step 1: Reflect on the Quarter That Was
Before jumping ahead, take a moment to look back.

Ask yourself:

  • What were my biggest wins this quarter?
  • What didn’t go to plan and what did I learn from it?
  • What progress am I most proud of?
  • What decisions created real results and what were distractions?

You can’t make a strong next move if you don’t understand where you’ve been. Reflection builds clarity and confidence.

Step 2: Review Your Business Metrics
Next, look at the truth of your numbers.

What metrics are you tracking in your business? Revenue, leads, social engagement, content created, connections built? Don’t get lost in vanity metrics, focus on what really matters in your business.

Compare:

  • This quarter vs. last quarter
  • This quarter vs. the same time last year

This kind of review isn’t about beating yourself up. It’s about reconnecting with what you said you wanted—and seeing how close (or far) you are.

Step 3: Refine Your Goals
Sometimes, staying on track with business goals means tightening them up.

Ask yourself:

  • Are my goals still aligned with my bigger vision?
  • Are they specific and clear?
  • Are they moving me toward something meaningful or are they reactive and fear-based?

Refine your goals by making them more intentional – rewording them, reshaping them. It may sometimes mean letting go of what no longer fits.

This is a big focus inside my 1:1 Strategy Sessions—we take vague goals and turn them into actionable, achievable outcomes.

Step 4: Reset Your Focus for the Quarter Ahead
You can’t do everything in one month—especially not in April.

School holidays, Easter and long weekends are going to impact your business this month and potential throw off even the best-laid plans. So don’t overpack your calendar. Instead, map out your quarter with intention.

Pick a focus for each month, identify your key actions for each week and ensure you block blank space for thinking, planning, and rest.

This is how we build Winning Weeks in my world—with structure and breathing room.

Step 5: Rise
The final step? Take action.

Not perfect action. Not all-the-things-at-once action. Just the next right step.

Ask yourself:

  • What will I commit to this week?
  • Who can support me—and hold me to it?

This is where Accountability Circles come in – a safe, powerful spaces to commit, reflect, and rise alongside other women walking the same path.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a business health check and why do I need one?
A business health check is a structured review of your goals, progress, and performance. It helps you step back from day-to-day busyness and look at the bigger picture—what’s working, what’s not, and where to focus next. Regular check-ins like this can prevent burnout and ensure your efforts are aligned with your vision.

How do I get back on track with my business goals?
Start by reflecting on your original goals. Are they still important to you? What progress have you made? What’s holding you back? Once you’ve clarified this, refine your goals to suit your current season, reset your focus, and commit to small, consistent actions. Support and accountability, like coaching or group programs, can make a huge difference.

What kind of business support do you offer for women?
I offer personalised 1:1 Strategy Sessions and host the Accountability Circles which are a supportive, structured group for women in business seeking clarity, connection and momentum. These spaces are designed to help you stay on track with your goals while managing all the other responsibilities life throws your way.

Is the Accountability Circle right for me?
If you’re a female business owner who’s past the start-up phase but feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just craving structure and support, you’ll feel right at home. You’ll join a curated group of women from different industries, and together we’ll meet monthly to plan, review and stay accountable (with zero judgement).

What if I need private business support instead of a group
That’s exactly what my 1:1 Strategy Sessions are for. We’ll work together to review your goals, identify what’s getting in the way, and create a plan you can actually follow—without adding more to your already-full plate.
